Hull has a fascinating history, from Viking times through Civil War. It was the home of William Wilberforce who was a key figure in the abolition of slavery, and from the 1800s a massive fishing industry grew here, before the demise of the fleets in the 1980's. There are some excellent museums in Hull covering a broad range of local history. Our pupils make regular visits to these museums, and greatly enjoy finding out about their city's past.

We are now preparing a collection of our pupils' Local History work to display on this page.

For now, an excellent place to start finding out about Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire is the Dixon family website.

Some excellent aerial photographs of Hull city center can be found on Colin Wesley's homepage.
