Community

Fostering community spirit, by nurturing successful integrated neighbourhoods, is one of Kingston upon Hull City Council's essential roles. This is reflected in the annual Community Pioneers Awards scheme, organised by public/private partnership Hull Cityimage, which recognises exceptional individual contributions.

In local areas, the council provides ongoing support for the development of economic strategies, often based on community centres. A number of areas in the city are benefiting from large-scale regeneration projects, bringing improved housing standards and greater opportunities in work and leisure.

Hull's new system of devolved local democracy is also helping to strengthen communities and enhance prospects for economic progress.
