The Museums quarter presents Philip Larkin, an exhibition which focuses on the life of Hull�s famous poet and University Librarian. In collaboration with The Larkin Society and the University of Hull Archives, Hull City Museums and Art Gallery present the opportunity to view some of Larkin�s personal possessions, photographs, his jazz record collection, the famous lawn mower and other quirky and unexpected items from the archive.
The exhibition examines Larkin�s connection with Hull and takes a look at the background to some of his most famous poems to provide insight into the life of one of Britain�s finest 20th Century poets.

To celebrate the opening of the Philip Larkin exhibition, Maeve Brennan (The Philip Larkin I Knew) and James Booth (editor, Trouble at Willow Gables) give an informal talk and guide visitors through the exhibition, which includes Larkin�s jazz record collection, books, photographs, lawn mower and items from his home in Newland Park, Hull.
Maeve Brennan was a close friend of Larkin for over thirty years and will be reading from her book on Saturday 16th November in the Central Library at 6pm.

Maeve Brennan�s unique memoir of the poet and their love affair is deeply personal as well as iconoclastic. The book reveals Larkin as courteous, compassionate and generous, and traces his literary achievements from The Less Deceived to High Windows. Maeve Brennan will be reading from The Philip Larkin I Knew and signing copies of the book.
